Dr. Carey M. Shifrin is a caring professional dedicated to eye care for all ages.  Dr. Shifrin received her bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania.  She went on to obtain her degree in visual science and optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2003.  With years of experience in private practice in the state of Delaware, she joined the 20/20 Image family in 2008, when she relocated to Arizona
with her husband.  Dr. Shifrin now has two children and enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, doing hot yoga and traveling!  Dr. Shifrin looks forward to meeting you and utilizing her expertise to help you with your vision and medical eye care needs.

Chad A. Carlsson, OD, FAAO has been dedicated to excellence in optometry since 2003, when he graduated with honors from Illinois College of Optometry and completed a Contact Lens and Binocular Vision Disorders residency program. During his residency, Dr. Carlsson worked to manage various forms of visual dysfunctions in children and adults, including strabismus, amblyopia, and other accommodative disorders.

He gained hands-on experience delivering advanced care, by treating and managing ocular pathologies such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and uveitis, anterior segment disease, and specialty contact lens fittings.

Carlsson Family Eye Center opened in 2006, making Dr. Carlsson’s dream of providing superior family eye care a reality. Dr. Carlsson is consistently recognized for his expertise and dedication to patient care. He’s earned Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry (2008), was elected Young Optometrist of the Year (2013), and profiled in the AOA Focus Magazine (2014).

He’s also an Amazon bestselling author. Today, he is an active member of the Arizona Optometric Association and serves as Chairman of the AOA-PAC committee for the AZOA. Dr. Carlsson is responsible for gaining support from fellow AZOA members that meet with Congressmen on Capitol Hill to lobby for our patient’s best interests.

Dr. Carlsson enjoys serving his community as much as he enjoys serving his patients. He’s a member of the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce and has served as Gilbert Kiwanis Past President serving Gilbert’s youth on a local and national level. And most recently, he became a member of the AHEPA men’s group to further his commitment to the community.

Dr. Carlsson and his wife Anne, who manages the Carlsson Family Eye practice, live in Gilbert and have 4 children.

Dr. Julienne Heene

Dr. Julienne Heene completed her undergraduate schooling at the University of California San Diego.  She furthered her education by obtaining a Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2003.  Since then she has worked many internships in Seattle, Tyndall Air Force Base, and Honolulu.  She worked in an ophthalmology setting for the last eight years where she became skilled in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of corneal surface disease and ocular complications.  Dr. Heene has gone on several mission trips to provide eye exams and care to those who can neither afford or obtain it.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time outside with her husband Zack and their two boys.
Dr. Charles Kesner

Dr. Charles E. Kesner II is dedicated to providing the highest level of eye health care. Dr. Kesner obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and was awarded his optometry degree from the University of Missouri-School of Optometry. During his tenure at the University of Missouri, Dr. Kesner completed optometric externships in neuro-ophthalmic, retinal, corneal, glaucoma and cataract training. His
additional externships include training in specialty contact lenses and vision therapy. Dr. Kesner has been a resident of the East Valley for decades. He is a member of the Arizona Optometric Association, and he enjoys spending time with his wife, Jennifer, and his five daughters. Dr. Kesner also enjoys skiing, surfing, biking, Disney and church activities with family and friends. Dr. Kesner has been in practice since 2003.

Dr. Jason McCord, originally from Pennsylvania, specializes in Corneal Refractive Therapy for the slowing of near-sightedness in children, hybrid contact lens designs for high-definition vision for all ages, treatment and management of eye disease, and dry eye treatment. Dr. Doreen Ng

Dr. Ng attended the University of California in San Diego for her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She received her Doctor of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry in 2009 and completed her Ocular Disease Residency at SUNY Optometry in New York City in 2010. She received her fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in 2011 and continues to be an active member in the organization.

Her specialties include primary and pediatric care with an emphasis on glaucoma, retina and ocular surface disease. She fits a multitude of contact lenses and loves working with patients of all ages.

She is also involved with OneSight, a charity organization that provides free eye examinations and glasses to children in underserved communities. She was born and raised in the Bay Area and supports the Golden State Warriors. In her free time she enjoys traveling, cooking, hiking, yoga, and spending time with her husband, family and friends.

Dr. John Peterson

Dr. John Peterson grew up in Provo, Utah, which cultivated his love for the outdoors. After spending a few years in Berlin, Germany, learning about their culture, he returned to Utah to attend Southern Utah University, where he earned his B.A. degree.  He attended the University of St. Louis College of Optometry where he excelled in treatment and management of ocular disease, fitting of contact lenses, and custom eyewear for patients with various visual demands.   Dr. Peterson and his wife Lara moved to Tucson in 2011 to enjoy the weather and lifestyle it had to offer.  After careful consideration, Dr. Peterson decided to move to Fountain Hills in 2015 to experience the benefits of belonging to a close-knit community.  Dr. Peterson and his wife have two boys, and the family is thrilled to get to know all their Fountain Hills neighbors!
Dr. Thuy Yath

Dr. Thuy Yath grew up in Orange County, California.  She received her B.S. in biochemistry and B.A. in chemistry from the California State University of Long Beach.  Dr. Yath attended the New England College of Optometry, where she was trained in ocular disease through stints at various community clinics and VA hospitals. In 2010, she participated in a mission trip to the Dominican Republic to help serve those less
fortunate and supplied hundreds with eye exams and eyeglasses.  Dr. Yath has been practicing optometry in Arizona since 2012. Outside of the office, she enjoys lazy Sundays with her husband and children, trips to the Phoenix zoo, traveling, swimming, biking, and chocolate!  As dedicated as she is to her family, Dr. Yath is equally dedicated to her work and is looking forward to meeting you.
