Special Announcement from Dr. Carey Shifrin
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Carey Shifrin on her new role as Regional Director of Eyecare – West!
Full Details & Transition of Dr. Shifrin’s Patients:
Dr. Carey Shifrin has accepted the director position with our growing network of practices. In her new role, Dr. Shifrin will work with multiple practices to ensure every patient receives the best quality in vision care possible. However, due to the demands of this position, Dr. Shifrin will not be seeing patients beginning March 1st, 2020. Dr. Shifrin is available for questions and we are consulting with her on individual patient concerns to easily transition care to her colleagues who are taking over her schedule. This was a rather quick transition that she was required to make and she regrets disappointing any of her longstanding patients with rather short notice. Dr. Shifrin’s patients will now be cared for by Dr. Julienne Heene and Dr. Michelle Nadeau. She has full confidence in Dr. Heene and Dr. Nadeau and knows her patients will be in good hands under their care.
Please direct any questions or concerns to the Scottsdale office and we will be happy to assist.
Dr. Julienne Heene
Dr. Julienne Heene completed her undergraduate schooling at the University of California San Diego. She furthered her education by obtaining a Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2003. Since then she has worked many internships in Seattle, Tyndall Air Force Base, and Honolulu. She worked in an ophthalmology setting for the last eight years where she became skilled in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of corneal surface disease and ocular complications. Dr. Heene has gone on several mission trips, including regions like Panama, to provide eye exams and care to those who can neither afford or obtain it. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outside with her husband Zack and their two boys at the beach, camping, and travelling in their RV.
Dr. Michelle Nadeau
Dr. Michelle Nadeau completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo in Biomedical Sciences. She then completed her Optometry degree at The New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. A Residency in Primary Care with a subspecialty in Ocular Disease at NOVA Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, FL is where she gained extensive experience in therapeutic treatment and management of eye disease. Dr. Nadeau has been involved in many volunteer actions including working in a homeless shelter eye clinic, participating in a mission trip to an impoverished region of the Dominican Republic, and participating in Lion’s Club and Special Olympics vision screenings. Dr. Nadeau has a special interest in children’s eye exams, therapeutic treatment of red eye and other ocular conditions, management of ocular diseases, and contact lens fitting.
