AUTOMATED PHOROPTORS

Automated Phoroptors are computerized versions of the machine you look through during the testing when you answer the all important “which is better 1 or 2” question. The automated phoroptors provide one significant advantage over the manual phoroptors in that you can view both the “1 and 2” options at the same time instead of flipping back and forth. Most patients feel this makes the testing much easier and they feel more confident in answering that all important question.

OPTOMAP RETINAL IMAGING

Optomap retinal imaging is a high-resolution digital image of the retina (internal lining of the eye) that allows evaluation for various eye and systemic diseases that can affect the retina. It takes less than a second to capture the image and the doctor reviews your images with you in the exam room. In most cases, this test can be done in place of having your eyes dilated so you don’t have the side effects of the blurred vision and light sensitivity for 4-6 hours after being dilated.

VISUAL FIELD TESTING

Visual field testing is performed on individuals with suspected or confirmed glaucoma, certain neurological issues like MS or on systemic medications that can result in changes to peripheral vision just to name a few.

OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY (OCT)

Optical Coherence Tomography is a highly specialized non-invasive testing that takes detailed measurements of the multiple layers of the retina, the internal lining of the eye. This test is often performed to detect and monitor for concerns regarding glaucoma or macular disease.

CORNEAL TOPOGRAPHY

Corneal Topography is a sophisticated contour mapping of the cornea, the front surface of the eye. This allows us early detection of corneal diseases like keratoconus as well as the ability to monitor these conditions over time. This technology also aids in the fitting of standard contact lenses as well as to aid in the design and customization of specialty contact lenses for better comfort and vision. All patients wearing contact lenses will have a corneal topography mapping as part of their contact lens evaluation.

CORNEAL PACHYMETRY

Pachymetry is a test performed to measure the thickness of the corneal tissue of the eye. This is important in evaluating the cornea prior to refractive surgery, when monitoring certain corneal diseases as well as one of the many measurements needed for glaucoma testing.
